Hi, I'm Lianne

There are so many trends that come and go over the years. Sometimes when I’m scrolling through Instagram, I feel like I’m just seeing the same room over and over again. While there is nothing wrong with a trend, I feel like they can be a trap. I’m a firm believer that if you love something for your home, you should have it regardless of fitting in with the current trends.

A few years ago I went heavy in on a trend (you know the one with all sorts of pottery with the words labeled right on them!) and was left with hundreds of dollars spent and a whole lot of mugs…who truly needs 50+ mugs as a family of 5.

At the end of the day, I think everyone should do whatever it is that makes them happy — if you’re a collector and enjoy that, go for it, but keeping up with every changing trends can be costly and exhausting!

I’ve scoured some of the top design sources for the 2022 Home Decor Trends and chose a few that I can definitely get behind.

Sustainability

MyDomain quotes “green is the new black” when it comes to home decor. This is a trend I absolutely love and there’s so many ways to be more mindful of the environment when decorating or designing your space. Facebook Marketplace is a great resource for finding furniture second hand, thrift stores, locally made artwork and furnishings, or supporting companies that uphold sustainable manufacturing standards.

One of my goals this year is to do more with what we already have — and that means finding new ways to decorating without buying something new. I will, of course, share tutorials along the way to share what I come up with. These Valentine’s Day hearts and this heart wreath are two great places to start!

House Plants

It’s no secret I have an affinity for house plants. They clean the air in your home, they’re beautiful and they instantly add a level of cozy to a room without much fuss. I’m a big believer that even if you think you have a black thumb, you can keep low-maintenance ones happy. I’ll share more tips on that later!

Smarter Storage Solutions

With all of us being home so much more the last two years, this one is obvious. Rooms that used to be used just for watching TV are now homework rooms or home offices. You have basements converted into gyms and playrooms. Getting smarter with our storage is a top priority this year and I can’t wait to take you along on our journey.

Last fall I set out to organize every single kitchen cabinet, and this year we’re moving on to other spaces.
