Hi, I'm Lianne

My intention on starting this recipe was just to share a cutesy way to make my pretzel recipe into heart shapes for Valentine’s Day with some fun dips. But then I was twisting up the pretzels and saw the garlic herb butter I made sitting on the counter and had the genius idea to make some parmesan pretzel knots. Now I must share with you because they are SO good.

Pretzel Recipe

1.5 cups hot water

1 tbs. salt

2 tbs. sugar

1 packet active dry yeast

4.5 cups all purpose flour

1/2 cup melted butter

Egg yolk wash

2/3 cup baking soda

Coarse salt

Grated Parmesan Cheese

Garlic Herb Butter

Combine sugar, salt and hot water. Sprinkle packet of yeast on top and allow to activate – about 5 minutes. Mix in flour and melted butter. Use dough hook on mixer and mix until well combined. Remove dough from bowl and grease with vegetable oil. Cover and allow dough to rise until doubled in size. I like to refrigerate my dough once it has doubled in size because I find the cold dough is easier to work with.

Roll out dough and divide into 10 equal parts. From this point you can twist into pretzel shape, heart shape, or for the sake of this specific recipe, knots!

Once all dough has been shaped, boil approximately 10 cups of water with 2/3 cups baking soda. Once boiling, you will drop one pretzel at a time and boil for 30 seconds. Remove from boiling water and brush with egg wash. Apply a glob of this garlic herb butter and sprinkle with coarse salt and parmesan cheese.

Bake at 425 for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy hot with or without your favorite dip!

The perfect recipe for game day or just because, I don’t think comfort food gets any better than these!
