With the holiday season approaching, I wanted to take some time to highlight last year’s decor. I’m still brainstorming what direction I want to go this year, but I am thinking of incorporating lots of jewel tones and glitz. Last year I went very neutral and I love that but I also love the idea of mixing it up.
All that said, here are a few tips for creating a beautiful Christmas Table design:
NATURAL ELEMENTS
Use things you can easily acquire, whether from outside or at your local flower shop. Pinecones, evergreen clippings and dried winter florals are perfect to add that natural element to your table. Last year I bleached pinecones to fit in with the neutral theme, you can find the tutorial here.
TEXTURES
Mixing textures is a great way to add interest and dimension to any design. Here, I used the beautiful dinnerware from the Canyon collection available at Magenta Inc. A gauze table runner was the perfect way to add softness as a contrast to the wood table and textured ceramics.
I ALSO LOVE TO DO A FUN NAPKIN FOLD WHENEVER I CAN. THESE CHRISTMAS TREE NAPKINS ARE FESTIVE AND SO EASY. I’LL POST THE TUTORIAL THIS YEAR FOR THEM OVER ON INSTAGRAM AND PINTEREST.
COLOR
FOR THIS TABLESCAPE, I WENT WITH A MORE MONOCHROMATIC LOOK BUT DID ADD POPS OF COLOR WITH SOME VINTAGE CANDLE HOLDERS AND THRIFTED AMBER GLASS. I LOVED THE TONE ON TONE AND THE WARM COLORS AGAINST THE GREEN HUES OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE. I ALWAYS FIND BEAUTIFUL GLASSWARE FOR CHEAP AT THE THRIFT STORE. IF YOU HAVE SOME NEARBY, CHECK THEM OUT NOW AS A WAY TO GET STARTED ON YOUR COLLECTION.
I’m so looking forward to getting our table together for this year. I have some projects to finish up in the dining room before we host our family so here’s to hoping I can get it all done!
Below is a round up of some of my favorite pieces for an elegant and timeless table design. Happy hosting!
